delivered 2,500 screens to 7-Eleven stores across Australia.<br /><br /> The
partnership came as a result of the convenience chain searching for a
more flexible and easy-to-use software for their in-store digital
communication channels, according to a company press release.<br /><br />
"It's always fun when you enter a completely new market and of course
even more fun when you can make such a big deal for such a
well-established customer," Anders Apelgren, CEO of Visual Art, said in
the release. "We have a long-term goal to grow outside Europe, and even
though we are primarily focusing and investing in the Nordic region and
Europe now, Australia is a real feather in our cap for our solution."<br /><br />
Visual Art has worked with 7-Eleven in both Sweden and Denmark, but the
agreement in Australia will be completely independent of this
collaboration, according to the release.<br /><br /> "One of the great
advantages of our solution is that we can handle both the technology and
the content easily and securely remotely," Apelgren said. "It gives the
customer great opportunities to quickly and easily change and adapt
content, but also for us to help at all levels up to the end customer."<br /><br />
The digital signage rollout for 7-Eleven in Australia has been ongoing
since the beginning of 2021 and should be completed this summer. Visual
Art, founded in 1997, has offices in Sweden, the Nordic region, Spain,

The system, based on ISO 14001, focuses on building and continually improving Christie’s environmental performance.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">The EMS encompasses numerous environmental programs including waste reduction, recycling, water and electricity reduction, facility and operational improvements, with a significant net CO2 reduction.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Chairman, president and CEO Jack Kline said, “We’ve introduced numerous programs to reduce our carbon footprint. These initiatives are an investment in the future and, what is unquestionable, is the ultimate impact on the environment. I want Christie to set an example for other companies; we take this seriously and don’t intend on slowing down.”</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Initiatives include the installation of 2,190 solar panel modules on the Ushio (Christie’s parent company) and Christie office buildings in Cypress, California. The panels produce 833,000 kWh annually, reducing CO2 emissions by 814,807 pounds and power consumption by up to 28 percent. Christie MicroTiles® installations in the lobbies of Ushio and Christie (Camden Drive) display the amount of energy that the solar panels produce in real-time.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">At Christie’s manufacturing headquarters in Kitchener, Ontario, a 35,000 square foot warehouse was converted to office space using environmentally conscious techniques aligned with LEED Gold. The space includes daylight harvesting, energy conserving lighting with high-efficiency HVAC automation, sound masking and carefully selected interior materials. Overall, environmental related projects in Christie’s Kitchener facility resulted in a 47 percent decrease in natural gas consumption and a 27 percent decrease in water consumption between 2004 and 2015. The facility also boasted a 60 percent waste diversion improvement over the 10-year period.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">In Cypress, Christie renovated its Network Operation Center (NOC) with refurbished data center equipment, including computer room cooling units and battery backup and flooring from renewable resources, which also helps maintain a low-static environment.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Employee engagement with Christie’s environmental programs has been and continues to be a critical success factor. “There is always a tendency to believe that the efforts of individuals are insignificant, but working together with everyone engaged creates a meaningful result,” says CEO Jack Kline.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">In 2014, Christie employees initiated a project to reduce the amount of LDPE#4 foam sent out as waste. Staff worked with the primary packaging supplier to pick-up foam used in raw material packaging from Christie for processing back into a raw material form. This allowed Christie to be among the first manufacturing companies in the region to remove this product from its waste stream.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">“When it comes to the environment, we only have one planet and it’s up to all of us to take care of it,” says Kline. “Ten years ago, when we started our environmental management program, we took this very seriously; we wanted all of our employees to be a part of it. To do so, we had to create a vision, and that was to constantly improve what we’re doing to preserve the environment.”</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Despite the growing acceptance of outdoor media as a mainstream medium, OOH still has a long way to go in terms of reaching a status of reverence.<br /><br />Almost everyone in the circle of advertising and media are familiar with the blatant absence of regulation in the medium brings about a Wild,Wild West mentality among vendors. By saying so, placements are not controlled in terms of position, size, and execution. Take that further into Digital Out-Of-Home and everything gets even more confusing.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />It is not just the rates and variety of packages that clients and planners need to contend with, it is also the understanding of the nuances of the medium which practically everyone in the industry, including creatives, need to come to grips with.</span><br />

That took place in 2010 and a clear 5 months before there was even a Digital Signage World Asia in Singapore! <br /><br />At the </span><span style="font-size: large;">First Philippine Forum on Digital Out-Of-Home Media, we were greatly elated to have DOOH guru Manolo Almagro to be with us. At that time, he was still residing in the country doing his consulting for Jollibee and Globe. Year after that, we had DOOH 2 which again was a big hit having Ricky Baizas of Nestle and no less than Bob Michaels of the Digital Screen Media Association.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">On the third year, it just got bigger. Thanks to Willy Soong who was the newly appointed distributor of Daktronics, the DOOH 3 took place at the Jaguar Lifestyle Center in BGC. Ron Graham flew in to Manila, as did the folk from Christie, Julianna Tong and the gents from Daktronics. Research guru Jay Bautista also weighed in.<br /><br />From there, we somehow slid back. There was a DOOH 4 but it was not of the scale as DOOH 1, 2, and 3. Zeno Martinez and myself know the reasons why the momentum tapered off, but it is not for us to discuss here. Nevertheless, young as it is, there has to be a constant stream of "Learning Series" to feed and fuel the proper use of digital signage.<br /><br />As it is, all we see are display ads which hardly maximize the full potential of the LED and LCD screens. Yes, the images are moving, but that is all there is to it.<br /><br />So the education must continue. As usual, Bing Kimpo and I by default are the voices crying out in the wilderness trying our best to advocate good use of Digital OOH.<br /><br />It is my hope that this year, 2016, the stakeholders of Digital Signage and DOOH will rally behind further educational events. After all, once the clients/advertisers see that DS/DOOH works, anything invested towards the educational events will pay off.<br /><br />Then DOOH ads will no longer be the mere moving displays of re-purposed TVC edits as we are so used to seeing.</span><br />

Samsung stunned EDSA's evening traffic the other night when it started
running its new out-of-home media placement on GA Tower, Mandaluyong.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: medium;">The curtain-type LED set-up covered 80% of the former static billboard space to show the latest offerings of Samsung.<br /><br />This
display adds to the number of LED billboards in that short 400 meter
stretch from EDSA Boni MRT station to the Mandaluyong side of the Pasig
river, currently bringing the total of LEDs to six.<br /><br />Visibility of
the screen was very high especially during the night though a bit
diminished during daytime, especially in the afternoon sun.</span><br />

There is no doubt that the emergence of the smartphone has created much impact in the lives of today's urban consumer. It has made our lives much easier but at the same time a little bit stressful too. Every now and then a red circle with a white number in it pops up in our screen indicating the number of messages or notifications we have to deal with in the growing number of apps on our smartphones. And because of this, more people are looking down on their phones instead of paying attention to what is out on the street.<br />
<br />
This phenomenon of looking down too much on a 5 inch screen inthe palm of one's hand has an impact too on the daily net viewership of a billboard. For this reason, it is imperative that media agencies who herald their prowess in audience measurement of Out-Of-Home media should really examine their current criteria for determining daily net viewership of an OOH site or panel.<br />
<br />
In my recent talk at Media Outlook 2015 at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati, I cited the increasing cost of OOH media. In this respect, since OOH media costs are rising, agencies should be very discerning in terms of audience delivery for a particular site prior to recommendation to client. Clients and advertisers likewise should be very sure of their purchases in OOH media. It pains me to see that so much media money is being thrown away by some clients simply by having their advertisements in OOH sites which were not measured properly.<br />
<br />
Thus in 2015, agencies who do have their OOH measurement program will really have to introduce a new factor or criterion given the time OTS audiences are looking down on their phones. With this, a better number of daily net viewership is derived.<br />

impressive eye-catching 5 metre high billboard sits at Edsa Shaw, a
popular crossing right outside Shangri-La Hotel In Manila, and is
powered by Infobox, an all-in-one <a href="http://www.signboxmicro.com/digital-signage-solutions">digital signage solution</a> by Signbox Microsystems.<br />
United Neon wanted to take digital OOH media to a whole new level.
United Neon already used the LED digital billboard in Edsa Shaw for
advertisements that could be scheduled on a daily, weekly and monthly
basis. However, United Neon were facing difficulties monitoring the
advertising material that was being displayed on the <a href="http://www.signboxmicro.com/digital-signage-for-transportation-buses-trains-airport">LED digital billboard</a>.<br />

United Neon decided to adopt the latest <a href="http://www.signboxmicro.com/digital-signage-products-by-signbox-microsystems">digital signage software technology</a>
and chose Signbox Microsystems’ certified partner Avolution Inc. to
supply the digital signage system, Infobox. Apart from monitoring and
scheduling advertising content better, it also enhanced the capabilities
of United Neon to customize the design of the advertising content being

The solution facilitated a significant tie-up with Metro Manila

Social media is the new frontier in advertising. A few years ago when online communities started forming and some companies had the bright idea of founding social networking websites to meet the market need for community venues, it was all about a new frontier of communication. Today, it is more than a medium of personal exchanges; social media is now the next platform for marketing.<br />

Even until today, most LEDs only show looping ads which ironically make the latent dynamic medium as a boringly static one. The only difference between LEDs and static billboards is -movement.
